I can do all things through Christ which
strengtheneth me. (Philippians 4:13)
I was at Ghana Post to follow up on a delayed
post I am expecting. Whilst in the compound, my eye caught up with their mission
statement. The first line of their mission statement shocked me to the bone “To be one of the best postal organizations in
Africa.” Wow! It was an eye opener. This is one of the reasons for our
mediocrity in this country (both nation and individuals), we don’t have a world
perspective. I found myself talking to myself; I asked, what happened to “the world?” Are we afraid to compete in
the world? This is a defeatist mission statement—before you even started, you
had conceded defeat to the world.
“To be one of the best postal organizations in Africa” Why didn’t
they write “To be one of the best postal organizations in THE WORLD?” Within
that short span of time; I learnt a big lesson “have a world perspective—Don’t
settle for Ghana and Africa; the world is bigger than that. Stretch yourself.”
As a Christian; your strength “to do, attempt, achieve, try,” anything in this life comes from
Christ. He (Christ) categorically told us “…without
me ye can do nothing” (John 15:4). We have divine power dwelling
within us and backing us in our pursuits; we cannot settle for mediocrity—ours
is a life of abundance; “…I have come
that they might have life and have it more abundantly” (John 10:10)
Dream big! Attempt big things! Move beyond your little world
and attempt big things. The sky is not the limit. The grave is the limit—even
the grave cannot be a limit for the Christian “O
death, where is thy sting? O
grave, where is thy victory? (1
Corinthians 15:55)
