Prrrrr!
The whistle for the 2012 race has been blown. There is a common saying that
“Life is not a race” Really? Whoever came up with that saying I personally
believe got it wrong and all of us who believe this saying also got it wrong.
In fact I have discovered that many wise sayings are really not wise if
compared to the word of God. Many of these wise sayings are really human
philosophies and human wisdom which is foolishness in the eyes of God. Did I
say foolishness? YES I did! I am just echoing the word of God.
- For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness (1 Corinthians 3:19)
Now
if you have ever believed that life is not a race, I am confidently letting you
know that “life is a race” Don’t excuse the delays in your life as “Life is not
a race”—get up and do something about them. I tell you what, life is a race and
you have to gird up your loins to run the race of life.
- Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God (Hebrews 12:1-2)
- I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all (Ecclesiastes 9:11)
These
are only a few scriptures to let you understand that your life is a race. The
only difference with the race of life is the fact that you are not running
against any other human being. Yourself, Time and Opportunity are the
opponents you are running against in the race of life. If you get this
right, you will understand you are wasting your time marking your life with the
life of another person. The other person’s success should not perturb you;
their time and opportunity has come. Yours will come, keep running your race,
be in your lane—like we say “di wo’ lane mu.” Seriously you
cannot change anything when your time has not come. Your sweat, your education,
your skills and all the efforts you are putting into life will not change
anything—all this will only become relevant when your Time meets with Opportunity.
Am I therefore saying you should not do all the things I have mentioned;
education, getting skills and putting efforts into life? No! I am not saying
that. I am actually saying that education, skills and efforts will only make a
difference when it is your time. They say success is when preparation meets
opportunity.
- What profit hath he that worketh in that wherein he laboureth? I have seen the travail, which God hath given to the sons of men to be exercised in it.He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end (Ecclesiastes 3:9-12)
Soak
these in; I will come back with “How to run the race of life”.
