Gen 3:13a. And the LORD God said…What is this that thou hast done?
As a Christian, when the subject sin is mentioned, what is your reaction; what is your attitude towards sin; what extent will you go to resist sin in your life.
We are humans and obviously to err is human, the best of men walked and the best of men will continue to sin. But the difference between a victorious Christian and one who keeps falling into sin is the attitude towards sin and how much one is ready to invest into overcoming sin.
Now I read the scripture above and I tell you what, I felt the pain, the shock, the disappointment and rage with which God received the news of Adams sin. WHAT IS THIS THAT THOU HAST DONE?
I don’t know if you are able to pick the emotions behind the statement above, but just imagine somebody you trust so much, a spouse, a brother, a sister, a close friend or a partner in business throwing into your face the trust you have for them. Honesty and human logic tells me that I will be mad, I will be disappointed and I certainly will struggle to give that trust again. God is not like man, you might be telling yourself, but hey! “…he drove out the man;” Genesis 3:24. It was a same day reaction, the man was evicted, he was sacked from the presence of God. I am playing with words now and in my mind I am dramatizing. I can see God shaking with rage, very angry and yelling get out of my sight, you wicked souls, I entrusted you with power and dominion over all of my creation, I delegated all my authority to you, I spent my power to put all these things in place and just a simple commandement you could not obey. Do you understand what you have done at all, you have destroyed my original plan for humanity, now I have to clean your mess. Get out of here!
Well, just to let you know sin hurts God, sin always reverses the original plan of God. If you are ever tempted to sin, think along these lines
1. You are hurting God
2. You are hurting yourself
3. You are interrupting and reversing God’s plan for your life.
If you are ready to endure all these go ahead and sin, but really if you love God and His redemptive work on the cross, you better put your acts together and fight sin. It is a serious canker, it destroys
